Guitars was established in 1987, so at the time of writing this I am
celebrating 20 years in the guitar repairs and luthier business.
I was originally an engineer in the aerospace industry, and also a guitarist.
Being unable to find "just the right guitar for me" being an engineer
I took the next obvious step of making my own guitar.
This guitar drew a lot of interest on gigs so I decided to apply my skills
to something I loved and adored - making guitars. A good mate offered
me some space in his upholstery shop and I was on
my way.
I started trading in January 1987 in Southport, Lancashire - but after
a couple of years it became apparent that more space was needed and I
moved to Eckersley Mill, Wigan in January 1990.
I have since moved to my present location on Clayton Street in Wigan
where I now trade.
The website designer asked me to recall some of the great names in music
who either play my guitars or have had them repaired by me - I am working
on this list so stay tuned!
